Antimetàboles

Fa dues setmanes estàvem a casa veient videos a Youtube dels discursos de campanya de Barak Obama i altres polítics americans. Realment són els reis de la retòrica.

Tots recoradarem la frase de JFK (1961): ‘

Ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country.

Doncs això és un recurs de l’art de la retòrica anomenat antimetàbola. Són frases memorables que aixequen els ànims de la multitud.

Un article interessant ho explica amb un munt d’exemples usats per polítics:

Churchill’s famous line: “Let us preach what we practice—let us practice what we preach.”

John McCain: “We were elected to change Washington, and we let Washington change us.”

Sarah Palin: “In politics, there are some candidates who use change to promote their careers. And then there are those, like John McCain, who use their careers to promote change.”

Bill Clinton: “People the world over have always been more impressed by the power of our example than by the example of our power.”
